Job Description
The Principal Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of system related infrastructure including physical, virtual and cloud. This role is responsible for developing strategic and tactical plans for the development of IT infrastructure with a specific focus on security, resiliency, and scalability. This role will ensure system infrastructure enables and aligns with our company goals.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the design and implementation of infrastructure and associated systems and services across multiple sites.
- Works within established configuration and change management policy to ensure awareness, approval, and success of change.
- Maintains physical, virtual and cloud environments ensuring system integrity and availability.
- Develops, maintains, and documents system standards, procedures, and configurations.
- Performs technical analysis and leads the development and implementation of system and cloud solutions that may include, but are not limited to Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Servers, Linux Servers, VMware, AWS and Azure IAAS, Office 365, Pure Storage, systems patching and automation.
- Enhances monitoring to ensure system integrity and availability.
- Builds resilient and automated systems to ensure uptime and ease of maintenance.
- Provides tier two and three support for systems and infrastructure and respond to system outages and incidents as needed.
- Develop and maintain system business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and infrastructure technologies.
- Regulatory responsibilities ensuring adherence to GxP compliance.
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a similar position.
- Experience architecting configuring and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory, Group policy, Azure AD, O365, Windows Server, DNS, DHCP and the Microsoft technology stack.
- Experience with application packaging, automation, and provisioning.
- Experience architecting, configuring, and maintaining VMware technology stacks and underlying storage.
- Experience with building and configuring management and monitoring services with technologies like LogicMonitor, SCCM, WSUS and O365 endpoints.
- Knowledge of industry-standard information security practices.
- Experience architecting configuring and maintaining VDI technology stacks.
- Experience responding to and remediating vulnerabilities as reported by security test and vulnerability monitoring software.
- Experience with SAML and SSO technologies.
- Strong inclination for organization, standardization and keeping things clean.
- Experience with PKI infrastructure and technologies.
- Experience with Disaster recovery and backup strategies.
- Experience with modern SAN vendors and knowledge of iSCSI, FC, NAS and underlying protocols.
